We find Auto Europe (headquartered in Portland, Maine) to be the best option for car rentals. For weekly rentals they offer a full insurance option, their web site is easily navigated, you can contract and pay in US dollars, and they provide great customer service wherever you are.
For stays longer than 21 days they offer a lease option. We have opted in the past to lease in this way. Having a factory fresh car with full insurance coverage and emergency road service is a major consideration when you are renting a car for a long period. The rates are fair and the peace of mind of having a new car is priceless.
