Simple Sunday Lunch

Simple Sunday Lunch

We love to eat outside…….terrace, garden, balcony…..whatever.  We’ve been known to set up an umbrella over the grill and table when rain threatened to get in the way of our plans. But yesterday, even though it was early in the day, we noticed the long shadows falling upon the table out on the terrace.  It means that winter is nearly here…..all the more reason to take advantage of a sunny and warm moment for a simple Sunday lunch.
Penne with a rich ragu, salad greens dressed with salt and olive oil, a deeply coloured sirah from Sicily.
Like your mama always said……simple is best!

Scooter Heaven (for their owners, Hell for pedestrians)

Motor scooters are everywhere in Florence, the weather doesn’t seem to matter.  And why not?  They are economical to buy, to run, to maintain….and they are easy to maneuver in Florentine traffic (at least for those who have grown up with them).  No one would ever complain about them at all if their drivers would only come to their senses and realise that they are mere citizens on their way to work,  not Valentino Rossi competing for a World Cup which is why no self-respecting Florentine would think of stepping off a curb without looking both ways first.

The beloved “motorinos” however,  are customised and used by their owners in the most creative ways………
